I have told you about how much of a fitness nerd or geek I am.  I would like to say that I am really fit and healthy.  But, I am definitely  a work in progress.  For the past few months my friend and I pick challenges for us to try to complete within the month.  First we started out by doing a challenge on the OptumizeMe app for the iphone.  We did a 100 push ups and 100 sit ups each day.  We continued that challenge the next month and added some new exercise too.   We still continue to do these exercise.  Or group is growing bigger and bigger.  I can't tell you how much change I have noticed.  Just from doing these exercises.

In February, we picked a challenge that our local park and rec. was doing.  It was an indoor Ironman.  We had from February 1st- March 2nd to complete the whole challenge.  We had to run 26.2 miles, bike 112 miles, and swim 2.5 miles.  As I have told you before.  I like to run.  We run on a regular basis.  I'm not super fast.  But, I'm working on it.  The bike I was confident that if I had the time I could complete.  The swim......  not so confident.  I am still trying to be a swimmer.  I love the idea..  My body and mind just can't work it out yet.

But, I was surprising able to finish the swim first.  I was pretty proud.  Now, I did have some assistance with it.  Erin did allow me to use my fins for part of the swims.  I do love my fins!!  With them on I fell like I am an Olympic swimmer.  Look out Dara Torress.  But, I still struggle to swim a whole 50 by myself.  But, that is a challenge for another day.

We had no trouble getting in our 26.2 miles.  We run every Tuesday and Thursday mornings.  So we knew as long as the weather was good we could complete it no problem. The bike turned out to be my struggle.  I know I'm surprised too!!  It was just time.  The challenge fell in a month when both of my kids were participating in a sport.  Two nights a week we were going to swim meets or swim practice.  Another night it was a basketball game or practice.  Saturday was another ballgame.  Some times two a day.  Not to mention band concerts and other family stuff.  So to squeeze in my workouts was somethings of a challenge in itself.

But, despite all those activities for everyone else.  I was able to finish!!  And early!!!  I'm so proud of all us that took part in the challenge.  We finally got our shirts on March 2nd.  Evidently, they didn't expect people to finish early.  We turned in our sheets and expected to get our shirts.  But, they weren't in.  Huge bummer!!

Here is my first picture of our shirt!!  Can wait to wear it and show you get another pic.  : )

The crazy things we will do for a shirt!!  But, it stands for so much more.

Do you ever make challenges for yourself?  If so what are they?

There is our cool shirt!!  Will post pic of me wearing it soon!! Still trying to figure out this whole blog thing!

Have a great Wednesday!!

P.S.  I'm still trying to keep up with the Ironman workouts.  Biking tonight!!!! : )
